Preparations for the installation of the Christmas Tree in the center of the capital are in full swing, with the municipality working hard to get the inauguration of the winter holidays at the very beginning of December.

Chisinau City Hall will come back with more details on the issue in the coming days.

In anticipation of possible accusations about spending municipal financial sources for lighting or other events, General Mayor Ion Ceban said at the weekly operative meeting that these are the duties of a local public administration - to take care of the city's infrastructure, to build roads, parks, schools and kindergartens, to support areas of activity such as sports, culture, including organizing events for people and to spruce up the city.

"The government has to look for its job and honor its obligations according to its competences, as stipulated by law," Ion Ceban pointed out.

In this context, the General Mayor emphasized that in any European capital city, the city's holiday arrangements for residents and guests are the direct responsibility of local public administration authorities.
