LPA Chisinau will build a solid household waste recycling center in Ciocana sector
The Deputy Mayor of the Capital, Mrs Angela Cutasevici, and the Deputy Head of the General Department of Medical and Social Assistance, Mr Vladimir Bolocan, attended last week the 44th Congress of the International Association of Francophone Mayors (AIMF), held in Lausanne, Switzerland, an event that brings together 500 representatives of the French-speaking world.
The main subject of the meeting was the importance of city-to-city cooperation in order to face the great global challenges and to act promptly for the benefit of the inhabitants.
Mayors and representatives of French-speaking cities exchange ideas, share best practices and innovative development projects.
The Congress of French-speaking Mayors is a platform for building a diplomacy of French-speaking cities and useful international cooperation between local authorities for the direct benefit of their citizens.
Collaboration between local authorities and international cooperation enables cities to act at local level, by implementing pragmatic and efficiently managed solutions to improve the quality of life of their inhabitants, and at the international level, by supporting coordinated policies to respond to today's global challenges.
To support the cooperation of cities, the AIMF Bureau will decide on the allocation of grants for projects initiated and implemented by municipalities, for access to water and sanitation, urban agriculture and forestry, sustainable energy, gender and culture.
French development agencies are actively involved in various projects in the Republic of Moldova, focusing on sustainable development, infrastructure improvement and social progress.
An example is the French Development Agency (AFD), which has managed several initiatives to improve urban infrastructure, increase energy efficiency and support local governance reforms in Chisinau.
The Chisinau City has been a member of the International Association of Francophone Mayors since 1996 and we are proud of a French-speaking presence that reflects our cultural heritage and relations with the French state.
