Chisinau Municipality represented at the 6th UNESCO International Conference of Learning Cities
Chisinau General Mayor Ion Ceban today met with the Governor of the St. Petersburg Region, Alexander Beglov. Officials exchanged views on the prospects for the development of cooperation relations between Chisinau and St. Petersburg. Alexandr Beglov has shown itself open to launching partnerships between the two municipalities on different areas of development.
During the discussions, the Mayor of Chisinau informed Governor Sankt Petersburburg that he wants cooperation based on the taking up of best practices and the exchange of experience, referring to the signing of a development Agreement on several fields of activity. "I am glad that there is an opening from the leadership of Saint Petersburg, so we can implement several projects to modernize Chisinau," said General Mayor Ion Ceban.
The Governor of St. Petersburg proposed supporting the Chisinau City Hall in the implementation of urban modernization projects. "For us, the cooperation relations with the Republic of Moldova are very important, based on trust and friendship. Starting today, we will develop our relations not only with the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, but also with the Chisinau municipality " said Alexander Beglov.
Both Mayors agreed on cooperation, especially with regard to assistance in the elaboration of a general urban plan and other strategic documents for the Chisinau municipality. Thus, in February, a delegation of specialists from different fields in St. Petersburg will visit Chisinau to provide support and expertise in this regard.
The mayor, Ion Ceban, thanked Alexandr Beglov, for his openness to collaboration and invited him on an official visit to Chisinau.
