Chisinau Municipality represented at the 6th UNESCO International Conference of Learning Cities
The Chisinau City Hall informs that on Friday, November 27, 2020, the "Mihai Eminescu" square in the Center District of the capital was officially inaugurated, after rehabilitation.
During the rehabilitation process, the square was transformed into a unique leisure space of this kind in the capital. Thus, the renovation provided for the replacement of the old pavement, the remodeling of access roads and green areas, the installation of automated irrigation system and street furniture (benches, trash cans and flower pots).
Also in the rest area were installed ornamental lighting pillars, which are distinguished by their innovative and artistic design, as well as an acoustic system (18 speakers) for cultural events and the broadcasting of theatrical radio programs. And to secure the area, the video monitoring system has been installed.
At the same time, in the "Mihai Eminescu" square, nine silver spruces and 30 dwarf thuja were planted, including decorative species such as rowan and juniper.
The cost of renovating the "Mihai Eminescu" square is about 2.7 million lei and was borne by the municipality in collaboration with Mobiasbanca - OTP Group, as well as EcoCity S.R.L.
Ion Ceban, General Mayor said during the opening event that besides the infrastructure projects the municipality is developing, people also need cultural activities, and here they will be able to spend their time nicely. "Thus, we want the citizens and guests of the capital to come to this place with pleasure to listen to music, theater-like radio programs and to participate in various cultural events," the Mayor concluded.
On the other hand, László Diósi, CEO of Mobiasbanca - OTP Group, said that the financial institution is honored for the possibility of contributing to the reinvention of an important space in the historic center of the city, which will surely delight guests of the capital. And the banking institution will continue to invest in health, cultural programs, education and volunteering, thus having a significant role in the life of communities.
The initiative regarding the rehabilitation of the square near the "Mihai Eminescu" National Theater belongs to Ion Ceban, General Mayor to pay homage to Luceafar to our literature, but also to offer the space to the capital's inhabitants, for recreation.
In the next period, in the "Mihai Eminescu" square, chess tables and an area dedicated to children's entertainment will be arranged.
