Ion Ceban, the General Mayor took part today in the event for presenting the results of the project "Chisinau - Green City - Strategic Planning" (GCAP) implemented by LPA Chisinau and financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) .

The finalized document was presented to the public on Wednesday, February 26^th, 2020 with the participation of experts in the field and development partners who welcomed the commitments of the local public administration Chisinau to form a unique vision on sustainable development of the capital.

The project aims to combine action plans and existing objectives at the municipal level which offers an opening and new financing opportunities and attracting investment in different areas: energy efficiency, waste management, transport, infrastructure, urban mobility, etc.

The Mayor of the capital mentioned that the local public authorities in the process of development and modernization of Chisinau municipality plead for a balanced combination of actions which would correspond to the qualification of Green City in ecological and socio-economic sense.

Regarding the development of the project the Mayor of the capital stressed that "Chisinau - Green City - Strategic Planning" is one of the most representative projects focused on modernization not only by the approach with reference to buildings in the city but also in terms of insurance high living standards for citizens, for a constructive dialogue between the authorities and civil society, for a clean and healthy environment and also for the promotion of tourism.

,, I consider that the transformation of the city begins now through the actions that will be implemented in the coming years although the strategic planning has reached a final stage. I am convinced that the actions planned so far will be carried out within the project and will be followed by others" Ion Ceban remarked.

The problems faced by the capital: related to the environment, limited land resources, water supply and sewerage, solid waste management problems, etc., will be solved thanks to this initiative which aims to help the authorities to the sustainable development of the city through an action plan to remedy the situation in the field. Energy efficiency projects, pollution reduction, urban planning, transport, waste management, etc. will be carried out also.

The project "Chisinau - Green City - Strategic Planning" is part of the Green Cities Framework Scheme and aims to contribute to improve the environmental performance and economic and social conditions in Chisinau through the efficient use of energy and existing resources and by reducing and adapting to the risks posed by climate change.
