Chisinau City Hall informs that a new type of road marking, called "red carpet", is being applied in the most crowded intersections in the capital.
These markings are placed on the road in front of pedestrian crossings to increase pedestrian safety. The "red carpets" stand out because of their striking color, designed to attract drivers' attention long before they reach the pedestrian crossing.
The new markings are made of a special material with an abrasive surface that helps reduce braking distance, giving drivers extra reaction time.
In addition to their warning role, "red carpets" are suitable for use at busy intersections and in areas with heavy pedestrian traffic to ensure increased visibility and reduce the risk of accidents
The first such markings have already been applied on bd. Cuza Voda, Sarmizegetusa, Miron Costin and Braniștii streets.
Soon, new type of markings will also be drawn on Decebal Boulevard, which is currently being rehabilitated, but also on other important streets in the city, such as Mircea cel Bătrân Boulevard and Ion Pelivan Street, where the need for this type of marking is being analyzed.
Chisinau City Hall continues to invest in innovative measures to ensure citizens' safety and improve traffic conditions in the city.
