The Chisinau City Hall and "Autosalubritate" Municipality signed the contract with GOL CEVRE TEKNOLOJILERI CEVRE, the leader of the "JV WATT-GOL", the winner of the tender conducted on ECEPP, the EBRD's electronic procurement platform.

The agreement provides for the construction of a new transfer station with a waste sorting line - a unique project at national level. These works are part of the second phase of the "Chisinau Solid Waste" project, financed by the Chisinau City Hall, the EBRD, the EIB and E5P.

Present at the event, the General Mayor thanked all those involved in this project, which is of major importance for Chisinau, the Republic of Moldova and the whole region.

"I am pleased that, by implementing modern strategies, we can advance the municipal waste management process. We will make every effort to complete the project in the terms set out in the contract, thus becoming a positive example and a model of best practice for all," emphasized Ion Ceban.

The aim of the municipal project is to implement international best practices in waste management, providing a quality service for all citizens and turning Chisinau into a city worthy of national emulation.

The new transfer station, equipped with a municipal waste sorting line to be built on a 3.2 hectare site, will improve the sorting and recycling rate of waste and contribute to the circular economy in Chisinau.

The total value of the works is EUR 8,187,888 thousand and includes the following components:

Modern transfer station equipped with three loading hoppers;

A sorting line equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for sorting and baling recyclable waste;

A fully equipped administrative building for staff with modern facilities, including a visitors' area;

A workshop for the maintenance and repair of the trucks and tractor heads in the fleet;

Special areas for fueling and parking of transfer trucks, etc;

The contractor "JV WATT-GOL" will have 18 months to complete the works according to the contractual terms.

This comprehensive project demonstrates the strong commitment of the Chisinau City Hall to improve waste management and contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment for the community.
