Mayor General Ion Ceban and his counterpart in Riga, Latvia, Vilnis Ķirsis, signed on Monday, September 9, 2024, the agreement of intent on the expansion of cooperation between the municipalities of Chisinau and Riga.

The document stipulates that both cities will promote the exchange of best practices and develop bonds of trust and friendship.

"We jointly agreed to exchange experience in city management and public policies, including through mutual visits and cooperation in various fields, such as education, human resources, culture, etc.," Ion Ceban concluded.

According to the Chisinau mayor, during the talks, it was proposed that both municipalities encourage local economic operators to establish bilateral relations.

Another important aspect of the agreement of intent is the exchange of best practices on EU integration initiatives and policies, which is also aimed at the municipal level.
