The General Mayor, Ion Ceban, participated in the opening of a new cage complex intended to take shelter stray dogs from the capital.
Thus, 10 new cages, with an area of 800 m², were arranged on the territory of the Center for Sterilization of Stray Dogs, where about 400 animals can be additionally housed.
The decision to expand the capacity of the Center was taken by the Municipal Administration to solve the problem of the large number of animals caught in the street or brought by volunteers, for sterilization, which are then kept in cages under supervision during the postoperative period.
The Mayor reiterated that the purpose of the municipality is to control the number of canine population through sterilization, and currently investments are being made on the territory of the Center, so that the animals are maintained in human conditions. "For too many years this subject has been neglected by the authorities. We want to sterilize about a thousand dogs during May, this year, when the representatives of the International Association of Veterinarians "World Vets" will carry out the second mission to sterilize stray animals in Chisinau, " said Mr.Ion Ceban .
Also, within the event, the General Mayor handed out the honor diploms to volunteers who assisted municipal services in the sterilization of animals.
The municipal investment in the opening of the new cage complex is approximately 700 thousand lei, allocated from the local budget sources and the works for the arrangement lasted 2 months.
Mentioned that in 2018, the Chisinau City Hall inaugurated the Center for Sterilization of Stray Dogs Management, the first institution of this kind. The center offers stray sterilization services and has been set up for the territory of the municipal necropolis with an initial capacity of about 100 dogs.
