The Chisinau City Hall informs that a new square was inaugurated in the Râșcani district of the capital, on Kiev Street, 14/1.
The green area will be called “Guguță”, after the well-known character of Spiridon Vangheli. The square was created from scratch, on a public space that was previously neglected. The main attraction of the area is the monument of “Guguță”. The statue is made of bronze, with a height of 1.5 meters and was made by the sculptor Veaceslav Jiglițchi.
Attending the inauguration, Ion Ceban, the General Mayor, mentioned that such initiatives comes to highlight what we have truly authentic, given the Vanghelian work, which raised generations of children. The mayor wished Mr. Spiridon Vangheli good health and to continue to delight the little readers with beautiful works.
"Now, with the unveiling of the monument, children have the opportunity to play, to sit with the beloved character, not just to discover it, reading from books. At the same time, parents can rest in this mini-square, close to the little ones ", said the Mayor.
The planning works of the square consisted of paving the pedestrian alleys, installing public lighting and irrigation system, rehabilitating the green areas, sowing grass, installing urban furniture and installing video surveillance system.
The arrangement costs were borne by the municipality and the economic agents, which also contributed to some works.
