Ion Ceban, General Mayor of Chisinau participated on Tuesday, December 8, in the inauguration of the mural "Color the world in orange", made on the wall of the trolleybus park no. 1,Columna Street, Buiucani District of the capital.
The mural with an area of about 700 m2, is dedicated to solidarity in combating violence against women and was made by the organization "Urban Spirit Family", in collaboration with Regia Transport Electric Chisinau.
The project is implemented within the "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence" Campaign, at the initiative of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (UN WOMEN) in Moldova with the financial support of the Government of Sweden.
Present at the event, Ion Ceban, General Mayor mentioned that the purpose of this initiative is to raise public awareness about acts of gender-based violence, especially violence against women and girls.
"Violence in any form is reprehensible. Gender-based violence has a major impact on the whole of society, and authorities are responsible for preventing and combating this phenomenon. We consider this initiative to be extremely important, as well as other actions of this kind, carried out under the partnership, which has a strong message to raise public awareness," the mayor noted.
The campaign "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence" was launched on November 25, and the mural was made by the team "Urban Spirit Family" led by Inna Jeleascovaka artist iZZY iZVNE, together with the team "White Tigers Crew" from the Transnistrian region. Regia Transport Electric Chisinau will provide night lighting of the mural.
