Today Ion Ceban, the General Mayor had a meeting with Andrei Iatsenia, project coordinator of the World Bank's "Global Smart City Partnership Urban Program, Disaster Risk Management Resilience & Land" and with H.E. Tatiana Molcean, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Switzerland.
The topic of discussion focused on the issue of solutions to the municipality's approach, addressed to the World Bank Office in Chisinau following several joint working sessions.
The mayor of the capital informed that the technical assistance was requested regarding the development of the municipal public transport service from the World Bank Office. In response to the request and the information submitted, WB consultants applied to the "Global Smart City Partnership" Program and the request was accepted on July 24th, 2020.
Under the nominated program, World Bank experts and representatives from a number of companies in Switzerland will provide technical assistance to the Chisinau City Hall in the field of transport and infrastructure.
Ion Ceban discussed with the representatives of the World Bank also other topics of municipal interest, such as infrastructure projects, the actions already carried out by the Chisinau City Hall including those related to the application for international development projects of the city.
The General Mayor is on a working visit to Geneva, Switzerland, during 6-8 October, where he is attending the UN Forum of Mayors (City Leaders) organized by the European Economic Commission (UNCE).
