An official delegation of the Chisinau City Hall, led by Deputy Mayor Ilie Ceban and Chief City Architect Svetlana Dogotaru, along with representatives of the General Directorate of Architecture, Urban Planning and Land Relations, attended the 12th session of the World Urban Forum from November 4 to 8, 2024.
The event organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme was held in Cairo, Egypt.
Representatives of the municipality participated in a session dedicated to local governance where they emphasized the importance of a flexible approach to urban planning. They presented the concept of the General Urban Plan as an important tool to respond dynamically to the changing needs of the community.
While in Egypt, the Deputy Mayor of the capital, together with the Chief Architect of Chisinau, participated in discussions with city officials and urban planning experts, focusing on innovative solutions for sustainable urban development.
They exchanged ideas and experiences on implementing effective urban strategies, modernizing infrastructure and adapting cities to today's climate and social challenges.
The World Urban Forum, organized for the first time on the African continent in 20 years, brought together experts and global leaders to identify solutions to today's urban challenges, under the theme "It all starts at home: Local Actions for Sustainable Cities and Communities."
The participation of the delegation from Chisinau underlines the municipality's commitment to sustainable urban development and the exchange of best practices at the international level.
