The concept of modernization of M.E. "Piata Centrala" was voted on Tuesday by the Chisinau Municipal Council. According to the approved document, the project is to be completed in about 2 years and the estimated costs are 110 million lei. The works will be organized in stages, starting from engineering networks, arranging sanitary blocks, places for washing hands, building a medical point, etc.
The costs for the design will be able to be ensured from municipal money, by crediting or with the involvement of the economic agents, which operate and have private property in the form of lands and spaces in the market.
The design works are estimated at about 3 million lei and will be purchased through competition. They will start in autumn and will last up to 4 months.
Ion Ceban, the General Mayor declared that the modernization of M. E. "Piata Centrala" is an important project for the municipality, which provides a complex approach to improving infrastructure, so that in the city center to have a modern, profit-generating area that meets all sanitary norms, both on storage of goods and for sellers and buyers.
The concept of modernization of M. E. "Piata Centrala" proposes an improvement in the infrastructure of the trade area, including facilitating access for people with reduced mobility, creating decent working conditions for traders, ensuring adequate sanitary, anti-epidemiological and fire-fighting conditions for all market visitors, employees and traders. Also, solutions are provided for restoring a pleasant appearance to the territory in the historic center of the capital, as well as the modernization of services provided to the population.
In the context of modernizing the market, it is also provided the arrangement of parking lots for visitors, in the adjacent trade space (on Tighina, Mitropolit Varlaam and Armenească streets), the redevelopment of the Poultry Market from 9 Carbunari Street, the opening of branches of M. E. "Piata Centrala" in every district of the capital, etc.
The concept of modernization of M.E. "Piata Centrala" was developed by a Working Group, consisting of representatives of the executive and municipal councilors.
