On Friday, the Municipality of Chisinau signed a Cooperation Agreement with the non-governmental organization "People in Need", Moldova, with the aim of developing collaborative relations in various fields, including education, economic projects, and support for children and youth.
After the signing ceremony of the Agreement, the General Mayor, Ion Ceban, stated that the municipality is always open to cooperation, and this time it involves providing long-term support to Ukrainian refugees and Moldovan families who have offered shelter to those fleeing the war.
This is one of the common goals of the Local Public Administration of Chisinau and "People in Need", Moldova.
As part of the project "Support for education and sustainable solutions for refugees and communities affected by the war in Ukraine", funded by the Government of the Czech Republic and developed by "People in Need" Moldova, energy efficiency measures will be implemented at the "Matei Basarab" Theoretical High School in the Râşcani sector of the capital, where currently 29 children from Ukraine are studying.
The launch of the Digital Learning Center is planned within the "Matei Basarab" High School in Chisinau. Additionally, 1500 refugee children from Ukraine will benefit from winter clothing, meal vouchers for school lunches, and financial aid for studies to cover education-related expenses.
It's worth noting that currently, there are about 21,000 refugees from Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova, including 5,000 children.
