The event takes place online and meets thematic sessions dedicated to the urban environment. Representatives of local public administration authorities, the business sector, academia and civil society participate in the forum.
In his speech, the Mayor of the capital said that the municipality currently has several ongoing projects in the field of urbanism, architecture and landscaping, which have become a priority for the current local administration of Chisinau.
"We want the city to be modern, alive, and preserve its specific architecture. The capital should be friendly to its residents, and we want to manage things within the legal limits for everyone. The forum, which has just started, is an opportunity to discuss with experts in this field the possibilities of achieving these goals."
Ion Ceban wanted to mention about the large-scale projects that the City Hall is currently working on, namely: Chisinau Development Strategy, together with the General Urban Plan of the city (GUP). In this regard, local authorities are guided by partners from Moscow and Bucharest, so a deadline of up to 20 months has been set to have a clear strategy for the development of the city, but also a GUP, essential tools for the city of Chisinau.
Until the approval of the new GUP, the municipality is concerned about the development of other strategic areas of the city, such as: Centre area, Mălina Mica area, Messenger (large areas not regulated urban), for which ZUPs are needed).
In parallel with the strategic projects for the city, the reform of the General Department for Architecture, Urbanism and Land Relations is also being prepared, with the subdivision to be strengthened and developed, so that urban development processes become a current concern.
