Chisinau City Hall received a donation of 50 thousand Euros, provided by the Slovak Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, to prevent and combat COVID-19 infection. A donation agreement to this effect was signed today between the two public institutions.
After the signing ceremony of the Agreement, the General Mayor thanked the Government and the Slovak Embassy in Chisinau for their support during this period, marked by the coronavirus epidemic, not easy for the whole world.
"Our joint efforts: of Chisinau City Hall and the Government of Slovakia, will help to reduce the consequences of the pandemic and prevent the spread of the virus to medical staff. We know the situation in hospitals and we get involved as much as possible to reduce the risk of infection. Caring for doctors, but also creating conditions for patients is headmost for us," said Ion Ceban.
Slovakia's Ambassador to Chisinau, H.E. Mr. Dušan Dacho, said that his country was and remains a partner and friend for the Republic of Moldova, so he comes with help when necessary. "Our collaboration has been going on for several years, and the current situation has led to the revision of priorities and the redistribution of financial sources. We have also given support to hospitals in Moldova, and now I am glad that we have been able to come up with this donation to Chisinau," said the Ambassador.
Financial assistance from the Government of Slovakia, amounting to EUR 50 thousand, is intended for the purchase of medical and protective equipment for the 5 municipal hospitals. The need for public health institutions during the COVID-19 outbreak provides for the purchase of protective equipment (suits), laryngoscopes and infusion pumps for syringes, goods necessary for the proper work of hospitals.
