In the context of a joint effort to make Chisinau Municipality more accessible and to strengthen the commitment established by the Chisinau City Hall at the Chisinau 2023 Urban Social Forum and the "Making Chisinau Accessible" 2023 Forum, a conference titled "2024 - The Year of Accessibility in Chisinau Municipality" was organized on Wednesday. This event was a partnership effort with the Center for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the organizations of the "Accessible Chisinau for All" platform.

The purpose of this conference was to publicly consult the draft Action Plan for the Year of Accessibility, developed by the Chisinau City Hall, based on proposals from municipal entities, as well as suggestions from organizations and groups representing people with reduced mobility. The goal is to improve the accessibility of buildings and public spaces in Chisinau.

This draft plan has been reviewed and coordinated by municipal structural entities through several working meetings, which included adjustments based on the budgetary priorities of each separate institution.

With the approval of the Action Plan for the Year of Accessibility, the City Hall will mobilize all relevant municipal subdivisions to increase accessibility to services and infrastructure, and to raise awareness about the field of accessibility among the population.

This necessity is generated by the resolutions of the Chisinau 2023 Urban Social Forum and the "Making Chisinau Accessible" 2023 Forum. These forums addressed the main issues of accessibility in urban infrastructure, public spaces, and buildings, from the perspective of users and residents of Chisinau.
