The Chisinau Municipality was represented at the World Urban Forum held in Cairo, Egypt
Chisinau City Hall informs that a group of 14 persons residing in the municipality of Chisinau took the oath on Monday to grant or regain citizenship of the Republic of Moldova.
The event took place in the presence of Deputy Mayor Angela Cutasevici and representatives of the local public administration.
The persons who obtained Moldovan citizenship are from the Russian Federation, the Republic of Turkey, the Syrian Arab Republic, the Lebanese Republic, the Republic of Iraq and the Italian Republic. At the same time, one person regained the citizenship of our state.
Deputy Mayor Angela Cutasevici sent a congratulatory message to those present. Cutasevici urged the new citizens to be active, to respect the laws of the state and to participate together with the whole community in the development and prosperity of the country and the municipality of Chisinau.
It is worth mentioning that since 2003, 1019 people from the municipality of Chisinau have obtained or regained citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, 94 of them this year alone.
According to the legislation in force, in order to obtain or regain citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, applicants must pass an examination on knowledge of the language and history of the state, as well as national legislation. A special government commission examines the file, after which a decree is issued by the President of the Republic of Moldova. Applicants are then sworn in by the Mayor General of the municipality or by the District President.
