The Chisinau City Hall informs that a group of 21 people residing in the capital took the oath on Monday to grant or regain citizenship of the Republic of Moldova.

The event took place at the Chisinau City Hall, in the presence of Deputy Mayor Angela Cutasevici and representatives of the local public administration.

The persons who obtained Moldovan citizenship are from Ukraine, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Syrian Arab Republic, the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Cameroon and the Republic of Sudan. The Deputy Mayor encouraged the new citizens to be active, to respect the laws of the state and to contribute, together with the whole community, to the development and prosperity of the republic and the municipality of Chisinau.

At the same time, she wished them achievements commensurate with their aspirations and efforts, noting that their personal successes are reflected in the collective success of the community.

In accordance with the legislation in force, in order to obtain or regain the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, applicants must pass an examination of knowledge of the language and history of the state, as well as national legislation. A special governmental commission examines the file, after which the decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova is issued. Subsequently, the applicants take the oath in front of the Mayor of the municipality or the district president.
