The Chisinau City Hall offers a complex of free services for street children.
Due to the increase in the number of children identified in the street and in the context of the objectives set by the municipality to protect all children, Chisinau Local Public Authority created in 2019 the Social Services Complex for children in street situations.
As a result, assistance is offered to children identified in the streets through a wide range of flexible services provided by the Service Complex, according to their needs, such as:
- Shelter;
- Meals;
- Provision of personal hygiene products;
- Washing and changing clothes;
- Guidance for life skills development;
- Cognitive, communication, and behavioral skill development;
- Career guidance;
- Counseling and psychological rehabilitation;
- Facilitating their access and accompanying them to community services (education, health, culture, etc.).
Specialists from the General Direction for Child Rights Protection, together with representatives of the Police Inspectorate, conduct field visits in the territory of Chisinau to identify children in street situations who are immediately provided with assistance.
During 2023, 1417 field trips were carried out, as a result of which 109 homeless children were identified.
Since the beginning of this year, 29 minors have been found on the street, including 15 from Chisinau municipality and 14 children from the republic's districts.
The work of the SAS Complex is mainly aimed at reintegrating children into their biological or extended families.
Thus, in collaboration with the Police Inspectorates and Local Guardianship Authorities, all children identified in the street, following the raids carried out on the territory of the municipality of Chisinau, were assisted and referred to the competent authorities.
The Complex of Social Services for Children at Risk is located in Chisinau, Miron Costin Street, 19/1, operates 24 hours a day and is absolutely free and child-friendly.
