Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading cause of disability and death both worldwide and in our country.

Thus, representatives of municipal subdivisions and enterprises, general directorates of the Chisinau Municipal Council (social assistance, child protection, education, culture, etc.), Chisinau municipal budgets and municipal public health institutions were trained by international public health experts in a thematic workshop on how to develop action plans for the prevention of (NCDs)  based on health profiles of territorial units.

The workshop was conducted by Axel Hoffmann and Bernadette Peterhans, international public health experts, with the support of the Swiss Cooperation Office (SDC) through the Moldovan-Swiss Project "Healthy Living: reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases".

Cardiovascular diseases, stroke, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes, digestive diseases, neurological diseases are priorities among other NCDs, and community mobilisation is needed to reduce the risk factors for these diseases.
