The Chisinau City Hall is in talks with development partners to support various urban mobility projects that could be implemented in Chisinau.
In this context, the General Mayor, Ion Ceban, together with the Deputy Mayor, Victor Chironda and the members of the mayor's office participated today in a joint conference with World Bank representatives, but also with various companies and organizations in Switzerland, specializing in public transport solutions and Smart City. Thus, the institution responded to the municipality's call, made in the spring of this year, for support of various projects, which would be implemented in the capital.
The topic of discussions focused on possible financing projects in the field of urban mobility, paid parking management and traffic management solutions in Chisinau. It is a project implemented with the support of the World Bank and the Global Smart City Partnership Program.
The partnership in the future involves the transfer of experience in the field of urban mobility from Switzerland.
The General Mayor Ion Ceban said that the Chisinau Local Public Administration aims to develop urban mobility in the city, following the example and practice of developed countries, and the support of development partners, including the World Bank, would drive initiatives on this issue.
It is worth mentioning that currently, the municipality is developing the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, a strategic planning document for the development of road and pedestrian infrastructure, public and private transport, parking and infrastructure for cyclists. The document will be developed in partnership with the UNDP "Sustainable Green Cities" project, being a premiere for the Chisinau Local Public Administration.
