The Chisinau City Hall reports that the Chisinau Local Public Administration has developed a new policy document on the protection of child's rights for the next 5 years - the Municipal Strategy for the Protection of the Child's Rights 2020-2025. The draft was approved at the last meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council.
The purpose of the policy document is to create a friendly and inclusive environment, able to ensure, respect and protect the rights of every child in the municipality of Chisinau. The strategy aims at to cross-department approach implementation involving several local public administration units, including MDPCR, GDECYS, GDSAH, municipal police, etc.
The beneficiaries of the Strategy are all children, regardless of the material status of the family, place of residence, ethnicity, spoken language, sex, age, political or religious affiliation, health status, learning and developmental characteristics, antisocial behavior or criminal history, etc., from Chisinau, with an emphasis on children and families at risk, as well as special attention to children with disabilities and children with special educational needs.
In addition, the development of a new profile strategy is driven by the need to focus on integrated structures to prevent and identify early risks to children and, consequently, to strengthen community response and assistance capacity, to develop and implement effective mechanisms for population and planning of child welfare services.
The Deputy Mayor, Angela Cutasevici, mentioned that the approval of the Municipal Strategy for the Protection of Child's Rights 2020-2025 is part of the general context of reforming the child protection system in the Republic of Moldova, as well as its alignment with European and international standards and commitments.
The document was prepared by the Municipal Department for the Protection of Child's Rights with the technical assistance of the UNICEF Moldova representation.
The Municipal Department will develop an action Plan for the implementation of the Municipal Strategy for Protection of the Child's Rights for 2020-2025 by 31.12.2020.
