Deputy Mayor Angela Cutasevici made a working visit to the "Taras Shevchenko" Gymnasium, where a classroom renovation project was recently completed.
The school hosts 212 refugee children from Ukraine, who are studying based on the educational curriculum of the Republic of Moldova.
"Thanks to the support of development partners, on September 1, 2024, the children entering the first grade benefited from a renovated space, providing them with suitable learning conditions.
Starting with the 2024-2025 school year, they will be able to study in the Ukrainian language, with the support of Ukrainian teachers who were forced to leave their country," stated Angela Cutasevici.
Learning their mother tongue and preserving their national identity are essential for the harmonious development of refugee children.
Currently, 1,398 Ukrainian children are integrated into educational institutions in Chisinau.
According to data from the General Inspectorate for Migration, 34,677 refugees with temporary protection status are registered in Chisinau, of which 8,222 are children.
