The municipal authorities are examining the possibility of ensuring the social inclusion of people with special needs by creating conditions for accessibility in public transport and support services.

This topic was discussed on Tuesday, at the meeting of the General  Mayor Ion Ceban with people representatives' organizations of with disabilities, specialized central authorities and municipal public transport services.

During the discussions, the most urgent problems faced by people with special needs including: lack of adapted transport in most sectors of the capital and suburbs, waiting stations not adapted to the conditions of people with visual and hearing impairments, lack of ramps in public institutions.

Thus,  General  Department for Public Transport and Communications Path and the municipal enterprises of the public transport are going to develop an action plan that includes the stages to create accessible conditions for the safe movement of people with these needs.

The General Mayor, Ion Ceban, mentioned that the approach to the problems of people with disabilities require special attention at the municipal level.

"We need to work together in order to identify and solve the problems that these people face daily. This year, we propose to develop a number of provisions regarding the adaptation of the metropolitan street infrastructure to the needs of people with hearing, sight or motor impairment "  said the Head of the capital.

Actual, there are about 2000 persons with locomotor disabilities in Chisinau municipality.
