Today, October 14, on the Intercession of the Mother of God’s holiday, the city of Chisinau, the capital of the Republic of Moldova, marks its feast day.
Traditionally, the feast began with the laying of flowers at the monument to the Voivode Stephen the Great and Holy and with the feast day liturgy at the Metropolitan Cathedral "Nativity of the Lord", as this date has a high spiritual significance. The feast day is about prayer, reconciliation and forgiveness, about the tradition of the ancestors and peace.
Municipal officials, led by Deputy Mayor Ilie Ceban, who is the acting General Mayor during the election campaign, attended the liturgy with parishioners, praying for the prosperity of the city and its inhabitants.
The inauguration took place in the Great National Assembly Square, and Deputy Mayor Ilie Ceban addressed a congratulatory message to the citizens of Chisinau.
In his speech, the mayor noted that on the feast day, like all Christians, the people of Chisinau celebrate the spirituality of the city, the Intercession of the Mother of God, who protects us and urges us to great thoughts and deeds for the good of the whole community. At the same time, we honor our traditions and customs, to be passed on.
The city of Chisinau is our common home, which unites us and brings us together to enjoy our loved ones. We have a beautiful capital, with great historical and cultural load. But the most precious things in this city are the people: hard-working, cheerful and talented.
Ilie Ceban called on the city’s residents to come out of their homes and come to the city center to celebrate together.
To this end, the Chisinau City Hall has prepared a wide-ranging cultural and artistic program, with local performers. And the special guest of the evening is the band HOLOGRAF from across the Prut River.
In addition, to the artistic part, the municipality has planned several fairs and exhibitions for the inhabitants and guests of the city, in the Cathedral Square, with handicraft and local products, and on the Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Boulevard, in the perimeter of Vasile Alecsandri and Mitropolit Gavriil Banulescu – Bodoni streets, there is an area with traditional dishes and selected wines.
Congratulations, Chisinau!
