The Chisinau Municipality was represented at the World Urban Forum held in Cairo, Egypt
On December 14, 2023, the Administration of the Municipality of Chișinău laid flowers today at the Monument to the victims of the Chernobyl disaster in the Botanica sector. This was done to commemorate the heroism of the participants in dealing with the consequences of the accident that occurred on April 26, 1986, at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (CNPP) in the Ukrainian city of Chernobyl.
On December 14, 1986, the participants in the elimination of the Chernobyl disaster completed the construction of the sarcophagus for the damaged block of reactor No. 4 at the CNPP in the spring of the same year.
The commemorative event was attended by the deputy mayor of the capital, Angela Cutasevici, along with representatives of sector councils and municipal subdivisions, among others.
In this context, Angela Cutasevici mentioned that today is an important day for all veterans of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster at the CNPP, in which their heroism in participating in the activities to eliminate the consequences of the catastrophe is honored.
It should be noted that citizens from several republics of the former USSR participated in the elimination of the consequences of the nuclear accident, including 3500 Moldovans. They risked their lives to halt the consequences of the disaster that marked the entire world. Many of them lost their lives, while others became disabled.
