The capital administration submitted flowers to the Memorial Complex „Feciorilor Patriei-Sfinta Amintire” on Thursday, February 15, 2024, to honor the memory of those fallen in the war in Afghanistan.

The event was held in the context of marking 35 years since the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

Also, on this occasion, on the morning of the day, the representatives of the municipality laid flowers at the Monument of  Stefan cel Mare si Sfint.

In this context, the General Mayor, Ion Ceban, sent condolences to the Moldovan soldiers who died in the war, noting that those who keep their memory alive want to be peace all over the world. And the veterans wished them good health. At the same time, the municipality will traditionally continue to provide support to veterans organizations in Chisinau.  

During the war in Afghanistan, over 12,500 Moldovan soldiers fought in the Soviet army, of which 301 fell on the battlefield.
