Today, on the 85th anniversary of Grigore Vieru's birth,  Chisinau General Mayor, Ion Ceban, along with the Deputy Mayor Angela Cutasevici, laid flowers at the poet's bust, on the  Classics Alley in the Public Garden "Stefan cel Mare şi Sfânt ".

During the event, Ion Ceban mentioned the inheritance which left us by the late Bessarabian poet. ,, Grigore Vieru called out the love of country, nation and ancestors. He rendered in his poems the most beautiful and gentle image of mother in verses. This is the poet who gave birth to the famous "Abecedar", "Albinuţa", the first books with which I grew up. Grigore Vieru will live through his lyrics sung and which are performed by the great artists, and his poems are still taught today and will be passed on to future generation", mentioned the general Mayor.

Today in the capital are organized several cultural events dedicated to Grigore Vieru.
