Chisinau Municipality represented at the 6th UNESCO International Conference of Learning Cities
Chisinau City Hall will honor all the contractual points assumed in the Civil Society Contract with respect to the locality of Ţintareni, where solid waste from the capital is stored, including the commissioning of the leachate treatment station, the fortification of the protection dam, but also those of social order to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants here. Statements in this regard were made by, Ion Ceban, General Mayor who inspected the municipal solid waste polygon today.
The mayor of the capital mentioned that the local authorities have on the working agenda the issue of waste management, and in this regard, next week, a working group is going to public discuss several projects in relation to the Tintareni and Bubuieci polygons, as well as possibility of building a solid waste processing plant. "It is a long-term and prospective project, with substantial investments, but we intend for it to be realized, with investments, not through lending," said Ion Ceban.
At the end of December 2019, the Contract with Tintareni City Hall was extended by one year, based on a decision of the local council. A similar decision will also be voted on by the CMC.
Among the measures taken by the municipality for Tintareni are: the technical protection of the waste polygon, by fortifying the protection dam, the installation of a leachate treatment station that is formed after the storage of the garbage, but also a series of social actions for the Tintareni commune.
It is worth mentioning that the leachate treatment plant, with a capacity of 150 m³ / day, has already been purchased since 2017. On January 16, this year, the tender for the works was announced, for the actual installation of the station, and the project construction is completed. It consists of 3 components: the actual layout of the station, the construction of the access road to the objective and the high voltage line, which will put the station into operation. The project cost is 16 million lei. At the moment 5 bidders are identified to participate in the auction. The competition was initially planned for February 14, 2020 but was extended by 10 days, due to the fact that it is a complex project. The completion of the works regarding the commissioning of the leachate treatment station is scheduled for December 1, 2020.
According to the director of the "Autosalubritate", Eugeniu Axentiev, up to now, over 22 million m³ of solid waste are buried at the municipal area, the space being used at half capacity, from 1990 to 2011 and from 2017 until 2017 At present, about 600-700 tons of waste from the capital are transported here daily. In July 2017, the storage works were resumed at the garbage dump in Tintareni, after, temporarily, they were stored at the polygon in Uzinelor street, on a territory that it was not designed for this purpose.
Subsequently, the mayor moved to the polygon from Bubuieci, where a leachate treatment plant was already installed. Also, Ion Ceban visited a waste processing company in the city, being interested in extending this kind of activities in Chisinau.
