The Chisinau Municipality was represented at the World Urban Forum held in Cairo, Egypt
On Wednesday, November 6, the first edition of the Municipal Forum "Chisinau, learning city: Transforming libraries into learning spaces", took place. The activity brought together over 100 employees from public and school libraries of the municipality. During the meeting librarians participated in sessions of presentations and case studies by international experts.
The Forum was organized by the Chisinau City Hall and the Municipal Library "B.P. Hasdeu", with the support of DVV International, Moldova Office.
At the event, the Deputy Mayor of the capital, Angela Cutasevici, emphasized the importance of the meeting, noting that the municipal administration wants public and school libraries to offer innovative, relevant services that meet the current needs of Chisinau residents. And the expected impact of the forum is to promote and materialize lifelong learning services by libraries.
A central moment of the event was the panel discussion on "Municipal Structures as Spaces for Learning: How could we inspire learning for all generations in the city of Chisinau?", moderated by Adela Scutaru-Gutu, Country Director of DVV International Moldova.
The first edition of the Municipal Forum "Chisinau, learning city: Transforming Libraries into Learning Spaces" was conceived as a strategic initiative to transform Chisinau into an urban center dedicated to continuing education and community development through libraries. It amplifies the joint effort to provide the capital's inhabitants with access to modern learning spaces designed to inspire creativity, innovation and progress.
