Workshops on validating the issues identified in the Assessment Study for the safety and public accessibility of women and girls in Chisinau municipality

The Chisinau City Hall, in collaboration with UN Women and with the support of the Government of Poland, is holding on October 22-23, 2024 workshops dedicated to validating the preliminary issues identified in the Assessment Study on Safe and Accessible Public Spaces for Women and Girls in the Municipality.

Chisinau is the first city in Moldova to join the global Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces initiative in 2023.

The aim of the workshops is to involve key stakeholders in analyzing the findings of the study and designing a Municipal Program for Safety and Accessibility in Public Spaces.

Participants work in groups to discuss challenges and solutions, and the results will contribute to the development of concrete measures to improve public safety and accessibility for women and girls in the city.

The agenda for October 22 included:

- Registration of participants and welcoming remarks by Deputy Mayor Angela Cutasevich, Dominika Stojanoska (UN Women) and Deputy Head of Mission of the Polish Embassy, Jacek Kasprzyk.

- Presentation of the global initiative "Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces for Women and Girls" by Laura Capobianco, Policy Advisor at UN Women.

- Debate on the preliminary aspects of the Stocktaking Study, moderated by Arina Țurcan-Dontu and Victor Koroli and breakout sessions to develop solutions to the challenges identified.

The workshops will continue tomorrow, October 23, with the presentation of conclusions and validation of solutions and recommendations to create safe and accessible spaces for women and girls in Chisinau municipality.
