Mayor General Ion Ceban, together with the top statespersons, laid flowers today at the Memorial Complex "Holly Memory" in memory of those killed in the war in Afghanistan.
In his speech at the event, the head of the capital noted that the participants in the hostilities in Afghanistan are an example of selflessness, an example of real men, and today's generations must keep the memory of the fallen.
“Dear veterans, you are worthy of gratitude. The least we could do was to restore this space and create better conditions here. The work will be completed this year. It is our duty to preserve the memory of those who fell in the battles and improve the lives of those who returned from Afghanistan who are here with us”, declared the mayor.
February 15, 2021 marks 32 years since the withdrawal of armed forces from Afghanistan, which also included Moldovan soldiers of the former Soviet Army.
