Chisinau Municipality represented at the 6th UNESCO International Conference of Learning Cities
The leadership of the Chisinau City Hall, led by General Mayor Ion Ceban, heads of structural subdivisions, and municipal councilors, laid flowers on Saturday at the monument of Stephen the Great and Holy (Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt) and at the "ETERNITY" Memorial Complex, on the Day of Remembrance and Gratitude, marking 32 years since the armed conflict on the Dniester.
The city mayor expressed gratitude to those who defended their homeland with arms in hand 32 years ago and compassion to the families of those who did not return from the battlefield.
Ion Ceban emphasized that today the citizens of the Republic of Moldova need peace, security, and stability, not messages that divide society.
"It is important not to forget what happened to us three decades ago, to learn the lesson and to understand that dialogues should not take place through wars in the future," the Mayor General further declared.
Today marks 32 years since the outbreak of the armed conflict in Transnistria, to defend the independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, where thousands of fighters, military personnel and reservists of the National Army, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Information and Security Service, volunteers, and civilians participated.
