Chisinau City Hall informs that the project "Construction of final sludge processing plants by pyrolysis process at Wastewater Treatment Plant in Chisinau" will be co-financed by the National Ecological Fund.
Pyrolysis technology is the reduction of the sludge amount. This method will allow the 100 tons of sludge produced per day to remain 10 tons of sludge and this amount can be transformed into dust, which is harmless and can be used.
At the same time, according to the specialists, as well as the results of the obtained analyzes, the only long-term solution that can solve the problem of bad smell in the capital, is the installation of pyrolysis plants at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Thus, the National Ecological Fund will contribute 60% of the amount needed to carry out the project.
Ion Ceban, General Mayor, mentioned that are currently being made efforts to identify other financial sources necessary for the implementation of this project, which in fact represents an important step that would allow the construction of an ecologically closed cycle of sludge processing that accumulates daily at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
"Because the previous administrations have identified only short-term solutions in this regard, today we have found about 500 thousand tons of sludge, stored over the years and left under the open sky. Here I want to specify: the construction of the new wastewater treatment plant that is currently taking place will not solve the problem of unpleasant smell in the capital, without the construction of permanent sludge processing facilities by pyrolysis method ", Ion Ceban underlined.
The Mayor specified that the respective subject was supported by all the parliamentary factions.
" Thank you everyone for your involvement and support in such an important, modern and unique project. I hope very much that in the future the public interest will be higher than the political disputes and won't be any more blockages for the implementation of important and necessary projects for citizens. We all live in this city and we want to develop it !" concluded Ion Ceban.
