Chisinau Municipality represented at the 6th UNESCO International Conference of Learning Cities
The Chisinau City Hall informs that the "Energy efficiency and thermal rehabilitation of buildings in the municipality of Chisinau" project, carried out with the support of European donors: EBRD, EIB and the Eastern Partnership Fund for Energy Efficiency (E5P), has contributed to increase the performance of the buildings of the beneficiary institutions, to reduce maintenance costs, but also to create better conditions, at European standards: for doctors and patients, students and teachers, teachers and kindergarten children.
These are the main conclusions made by the representatives of the Chisinau LPA, the donors and the beneficiaries, presented during a special ceremony at the end of the Project.
The event was attended by the General Mayor, Ion Ceban, representatives of the Project's European donors, ambassadors accredited in Chisinau, beneficiaries, journalists, etc.
The project "Energy efficiency and thermal rehabilitation of buildings in the municipality of Chisinau" was launched in early 2021, aiming at energy efficiency of public institutions in Chisinau.
The main types of works foreseen in the Project included: external isolation of buildings (walls, roof and basement), replacement of carpentry with efficient solutions, installation of ventilation systems with heat recovery, installation of LED lighting system, replacement of thermal systems and rehabilitation of engineering networks, installation of smart energy measurement systems, etc.
The Mayor of the capital noted that the Energy Efficiency Project is one of the largest of its kind in the region.
At the same time, Ion Ceban thanked all those who were directly or indirectly involved in the implementation of this initiative, thanks to which 22 public buildings of importance to the municipality - schools, kindergartens and hospitals - were brought up to genuine European standards. "Better conditions have been created for doctors and patients, pupils and teachers, educators and kindergarten children, and all this means an increase in the quality of life," emphasised the General Mayor.
For the implementation of the Project, LPA Chisinau benefited from the support of important development partners: the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank and the Eastern Partnership Fund for Energy Efficiency E5P.
The total budget of the Project amounted to 25 million EUR (500 million MDL) and was allocated to the efficiency upgrading of 22 buildings of public institutions in Chisinau, 13 high schools, 6 kindergartens and 3 hospitals, all of which play a crucial role in the capital's education and healthcare system.
