Chisinau City Hall informs that on Wednesday started the rehabilitation works on Hâncești road, on the section between Sihastrului Street and the entrance to Ialoveni.

This project aims to modernize one of the most important road arteries, with a length of 3.4 km and 8 lanes, which connects the capital with the south of the country.

The General Mayor, Ion Ceban, said that the municipality has carried out international expertise in 2023 and 2024 to determine the way of intervention on this artery.

"This road has never been capitally rehabilitated and the road surface is degraded, affecting the driving comfort and exceeding the permissible noise level. Experts have concluded that the road can be rehabilitated effectively and the life of the objective can be extended by an average of 15 years if appropriate modern techniques are applied," the mayor noted.

Planned rehabilitation works include:

  • Re-profiling the running surface and repairing degradation to an average depth of 2.5 cm;
  • full replacement of degraded concrete slabs;
  • Roughness rehabilitation by the Grinding method (used for the first time in the Republic of Moldova);
  • restoration and sealing of thermal expansion joints with polysulphidic materials.
  • To reduce discomfort for traffic participants, the works will be organized in stages, by segments and lanes, so as to affect road traffic as little as possible.

According to the execution contract, the works are to be completed in up to 1 year and the value of the project is 81.2 million MDL.

This project marks a first for the municipality of Chisinau, but also at national level, using advanced concrete road repair technologies to ensure durability and comfort for all users.
