The Chisinau Municipality was represented at the World Urban Forum held in Cairo, Egypt
A delegation from the Chisinau City Hall is taking part in the 2nd REGIONAL FORUM "Together we unite 2.0: coordinating, integrating, rebuilding" in Chernivtsi, Ukraine.
One of the main objectives of the event is to discuss the current state of adaptation and integration of refugees at local and regional level in the Chernivtsi region.
The delegation of the Chisinau Municipality includes: Vadim Hâncu, the Mayor of the Central District, Sergiu Andrian, the Deputy Mayor, Aliona Rotari, the Director of the Municipal Children's Hospital No. 1, and Olesea Sîrghi, an advisor in the Office of the Mayor General, who participated on Thursday, April 4, 2024, in the Forum with a comprehensive presentation on the contribution of the Chisinau LPA to the effective management of the refugee crisis in Ukraine.
The Regional Forum is organized by the City Council of Chernivtsi with the support of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and UNDP in Ukraine, with the financial support of the European Union provided in the framework of the project "EU4Recovery - Empowering Communities in Ukraine" and involving six target communities in the region.
During the same official visit, the delegation from Chisinau had a meeting with the administration of the city of Chernivtsi, in particular with Mayor Roman Cliciuc.
Representatives of the two twinned municipalities under the cooperation agreement mentioned the importance of supporting the neighbouring country and the continued readiness to provide multidimensional support to people who have fled the war.
In this context, the President Vadim Hâncu noted the interest in intensifying cooperation relations between the administration of the Central District of Chisinau and the city of Chernivtsi, under various aspects, such as: initiation of bilateral projects, mutual support, exchange of best practices and common European path.
