The Chisinau Municipality was represented at the World Urban Forum held in Cairo, Egypt
The Chisinau City Hall informs that the street lighting network on 31 August 1989 Street has been connected, fully rehabilitated within the framework of the capital repair project of the road.
In the near future, traffic lights will also be put into operation.
The 31 August 1989 Street underwent capital repair at the beginning of April 2022, and by the end of 2023, it was fully reopened to traffic, with the exception of the road section: Alexandr Pușkin Street - Mitropolit G. Bănulescu-Bodoni Street, declared a historic monument of national importance and preserved until a decision is made regarding its valorization.
The capital rehabilitation of the road included:
- Reconstruction of the roadway and sidewalks;
- Rehabilitation of the rainwater drainage system;
- Creation of a lane for alternative transport;
- Arrangement of parking spaces and accesses;
- Rehabilitation of street lighting along the entire length of the street.
The repair works were carried out by the municipality, within Package II of the Project "Rehabilitation of central streets and modernization of public lighting in the center of Chisinau municipality," with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the EBRD Special Fund for Green Energy.
The project also included the capital repair of Alexandru cel Bun and Tighina streets.
