On Thursday, the Chisinau Municipal Council voted the project on accepting a donation from the Public Association Research Center for Sustainable Development (RCSD) in Bucharest, in order to develop and update, free of charge, the General Urban Plan (GUP) as well as the Chisinau development strategy.

The project was proposed by the General Mayor Ion Ceban. It is planned that the General Urban development plan will be developed within 1.5 years. The estimated cost of assistance is 500 thousand euros, which is equivalent to about 10 million lei.

All amendments proposed by representatives of factions from the CMC were introduced into the document, and the contract will be signed after the conclusion of specialized commissions.

Thus, in order to develop the General Urban Plan and the Development Strategy of the Chisinau municipality, an international team and a working group will be created, which will include experts from Moldova, Romania and other countries to control the process of developing strategically important documents.

The general Mayor noted that a quarterly progress report on the development of the General Urban Plan and the Development Strategy of Chisinau municipality will be presented quarterly within the CMC. At the same time, the Chisinau City Hall reserves the right to documentation related to security and public order.

The head of the capital thanked the councilors for voting such an important project. "It would have been regrettable if we had not used this opportunity, in the situation when so far we have not implemented the General Urban Plan of Chisinau. At the same time, we propose that by the end of March an international team and a working group will be created, which will include experts from Moldova, Romania and other countries to control the process of developing the Chisinau Municipal Development Strategy and G.U.P." Ion Ceban specified.
