Green City Lab (UNDP) and Chisinau City Hall are initiating the first stage of consultations on the Chisinau Street Design Guide. The guide is a set of recommendations and best practices for restoring the streets of the city as public spaces, which gives citizens the opportunity to use all modes of travel, including walking, safety and comfort.
This document aims to be a tool to help both local authorities and public and private investors to design and build safe, comfortable and pleasant public streets / spaces, according to the needs of the citizens.
Following the consultations will be collected and systematized the opinions of the specialists and the inhabitants of the capital regarding the design and layout of the streets in the city, which will be introduced in the final version of the Guide. Later the document will be submitted to public debates, after which it will be proposed for approval to the Chisinau Municipal Council.
Those interested can express their opinion regarding this document by completing the form, after which they will send it to the e-mail address: office@greencity.md.
We should mention that one of the pilot projects of the Green City Lab is related to the elaboration of a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUD), in parallel with the optimization of the urban transport network and the use of intelligent solutions. In this regard, collaboration was established between the Green City Lab, the Architecture, Urbanism and Land Relations Department, the Public Transport and Communications Department and the "Chisinauproiect" Municipal Design Institute.
Within the project, the Guide for the design and design of streets was developed as a reference document for civil servants, architects, urban planners, local communities and NGOs, in order to increase their capacity for involvement and decision-making in the process of street improvement. .
The Chisinau Street Design Guide can be consulted in Romanian language.
