Deputy Mayor Mrs. Angela Cutasevici paid a fact-finding visit to the Social Service "Assisted Social Housing", subordinated to the General Directorate for the Protection of Children's Rights, which has been operating for a year now, following a collaboration between LPA Chisinau and UNICEF Moldova.

The aim of the service is to assist and provide specialized social support services to young people left without parental care, including refugees, aged 16 to 21, who have left the care system.

Thus, with the support of the development partner, in each district of the capital, one assisted social housing (five in total) was created, which were arranged according to the individual needs of the beneficiaries, in order to ensure a family-like environment.

This social service provides assistance and support in the realization of the rights of adolescents in Chisinau Municipality in order to develop independent living skills, reintegration into society and the possibility to continue their studies.

"In this way, the Chisinau City Hall confirms its commitment to support young people who are at risk, to create a friendly and inclusive environment for them, giving them the chance to a better life", emphasized the Deputy Mayor Mrs. Angela Cutasevici.

With the support of UNICEF Moldova, in one year since the launch of the service, 33 young men and women from the protection system in Chisinau have benefited from:

✓ Modern temporary accommodation;

✓ Full coverage of housing maintenance costs;

✓ Daily meals provided by free food cards;

✓ Services of qualified specialists in organizing various socialization activities to reduce trauma;

✓ Provision of basic necessities; young people received vouchers to buy clothes and footwear;

✓ provision of teaching materials for the specialized study process.

At the moment, 21 young people - 9 girls and 12 boys - are benefiting from the social service "Assisted Social Housing" in Chisinau.
