The Chisinau City Hall informs that on Friday was inaugurated the food block of the "Elena Alistar" Theoretical High School with arts profile, which was modernized and expanded by the construction of a 150-seat catering facility.

The project will provide healthy food for over 1000 students and 70 employees in a new, modern space. The cost of the project is more than 10 million MDL.

The event was attended by the General Mayor, Ion Ceban, the Mayor of Botanica district, Diana Guba, representatives of the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sport, the high school staff, etc.

Lilia Babuc, the director of the high school, said that the food block of the institution was modernized as part of the project of the Chisinau City Hall on the expansion of educational institutions, the work will be launched in 2022.

The cost of the project is over 10 million lei, which includes the construction of the hall, the purchase of equipment for the food block and furniture for the canteen.

The inauguration of the new cafeteria solved the problem of the Hall, which was previously used for serving meals and will now be free for extracurricular activities.

In his speech, the General Mayor, Ion Ceban, noted that successfully completed investment projects are also an honour for municipal officials, especially when they are carried out together with the beneficiaries.

The mayor thanked the administration of the high school and the teaching staff for their efforts in educating the younger generation. "Now, in the 21st century, investing in education should not be categorized as an expense. Because this is how we invest in children and therefore in the future. I am glad that here, in Chisinau, together with everyone, we can build kindergartens, open new schools, modernise institutions. This is our duty and we will do it better and better", said the Mayor General.

In this context, Ion Ceban promised that the City Hall will also contribute to the rehabilitation of the high school's assembly hall, given the school's arts profile, which requires a separate, well-equipped space for extracurricular activities.

In the last 4 years, the school has benefited from 2 large projects financed by APL Chisinau: thermal rehabilitation and energy efficiency of the building and extension of the food block.

In 2020-2023, about 10.8 million MDL were invested in the consolidation and capital repair of the building, and for the expansion of the food block, the purchase of furniture and equipment for the food block, the municipality allocated over 11 million MDL in 2022-2023.

The "Elena Alistar" Theoretical High School in the Botanica sector was founded 59 years ago, and for 26 years the institution has had the status of a high school.
