Chisinau Municipality represented at the 6th UNESCO International Conference of Learning Cities
Chisinau City Hall informs during the holidays, October 21-22, three sports events took place in the capital, at which participated children and young people from the capital, from the republic and from the abroad.
Information in this regard was presented on Monday by the Deputy Mayor Ilie Ceban at the operational meeting of municipal services.
Thus, more than 120 athletes, students of schools and sports clubs from the capital, districts, as well as from Romania and Ukraine, participated in the Chisinau Municipal Badminton Championship.
Also, over the weekend, took place the 9th edition of the "Taurul de Aur" International Sports Festival, where more than 100 people with special needs have participated. And for cycling lovers on Sunday, the Municipal Cycling Championship - Criterium race, was organized on Albisoara Street. In total more than 150 participants from Chisinau, Balti, Dubasari, Tighina, Tiraspol and from the country's districts gathered.
According to Ilie Ceban, the Capital City Hall continues to be actively involved in organizing sports events. Practically every weekend sports events are been held in the capital, and this is due to the considerable increase in the investments to this purpose.
"In the last four years alone, the budget for sports events, local and international competitions has more than tripled. In 2019 6.6 million lei were allocated for this area, but, this year the number exceeded 20 million lei,” Ceban said.
The City Hall is a partner of sport, which gets involved with financial support to further motivate children and young people. These actions are carried out for the convenience of the residents, but also for a greater involvement in sports.
